Modesty Series is a series of famous paintings that have a Middle Eastern modest essence to them using Arabic calligraphy in creative ways. Being half Middle Eastern inspired this project due to my passion for art and writing in Arabic calligraphy.
This project has received a lot 'hype' and helped me land press in Emboss Magazine, a submission-based, quarterly digital and on-demand print publication that chronicles the evolution of art in the global creative sphere and CairoScene, as been instigating controversy and conversations since its relaunch in 2013. An engaging and irreverent mix of lifestyle, music, business, politics, interviews and events, CairoScene is constantly disrupting the internet. Creating fresh and fearless content daily, our experienced writers, columnists, and contributors run the gamut from fun and frivolous to thought-provoking and controversial - but always compelling.
With the success and great feedback I've received about Modesty Series on social media and in person, I decided to design it into an apparel brand called Modest. The apparel brand has a twist on street and urban wear.
As a fashion influencer, I personally wear a lot of streetwear and always want to look unique in whatever I wear, so what's better than to Arabic calligraphy attire? The apparel wear I'm focused on currently are hoodies and t-shirts. I'm also working on expanding the brand and market it by creating a newsletter and reaching out social media influencers to better market the brand.
